A new study was published recently that shows that medical errors are the likely cause of for over 400,000 deaths each year in the United States. Whistleblowers have claimed that certain hospital corporations have intentionally admitted patients to hospitals that do not need to be in the hospital. Whistleblowers allege that this has been done to increase profits for hospitals. California whistleblower and securities attorneys say that whistleblowers are in important tool in the fight against corporate greed.
A 1999 study estimated the number of patient deaths due to medical errors at 100,000 per year in the United States. At that time, the medical industry claimed that the numbers were unproven. Now, the medical industry is claiming that the 1999 study was accurate and that those numbers are right. The medical industry is now saying that the new study is wrong; and that the notion that 400,000 people die every year as the result of hospital errors is ridiculous. California whistleblower and securities attorneys say that whistleblowers help shed light on systemic problems within corporations.
According to the study, in some cities that have had hospital strikes, the death rates during the period of the strike went down. According to whistleblowers, certain hospital corporations have admitted patients that do not need to be admitted in order to increase profits. The consequences of admitting people into hospitals that do not need to be there can be dire. Those patients would then be exposed to possible illness and in extreme cases, death. California whistleblower and securities attorneys say that this type of problem can be avoided if whistleblowers come forward with information that could put an end to such practices.
