Shasta County
Shasta County is located in far Northern California at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley and among the Cascade Range. It is quintessentially Northern Californian, boasting breathtaking mountains, dense forests, and numerous rivers, lakes, and streams. Opportunities to get out and explore the great outdoors are numerous, as the county is home to several national parks, including Lassen Volcanic National Park, Lava Beds National Monument, and the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. The area’s rich diversity of flora makes Shasta County one of the best places in California to view fall colors. The county seat and largest city in Shasta County is Redding, which offers residents plenty of big-city amenities while still maintaining its small-town charm, along with a reasonable cost of living.
