San Francisco Prosecutor Awarded $2 Million In Highly-Anticipated Case
Whistleblower Case
Recently, a San Francisco jury ruled in favor of a San Francisco prosecutor who alleged that she was terminated from her place of work for trying to dig deeper into some suspected fraud and city corruption. In the end, the jury found that her place of employment was in violation of the Whistleblower Protection Act and False Claims Act, and awarded the San Francisco prosecutor $2 million.
In the case, the whistleblower prosecutor had original information that the city attorney’s office might have received kickbacks for awarding $10 million in jobs to plumbing companies for work that was not needed. When her employer found out the story might break it stopped the funding and fired her for digging the information up.
In the end, the jury determined that the prosecutor was wrongfully discriminated against in the workplace. Ultimately, the protective laws forced the employer to compensate the whistleblower for a retaliatory firing. At Evans Law Firm, we understand how serious these claims can be, and we aim to serve those individuals who have experienced any unjustness, retaliation, or discrimination in the workplace.
