Tragic Stories of Abuse and Neglect Are All Too Common
Accounts of nursing home abuse are really hard to take. But the reality is that residents are often abused and neglected in the very places where they should be protected from harm and cared for. A recently reported investigation of a large nursing home revealed countless stories of neglect, mistreatment, malnutrition, unsanitary conditions, and rough handling of patients.[1] In one incident, a resident, who needed constant monitoring because of a heart condition, died in bed while the aide assigned to watch him played video games on her computer.
The San Francisco and California nursing home abuse attorneys at Evans Law Firm, Inc. understand what can go horribly wrong when nursing home residents are abandoned, neglected, abused or over-medicated. We represent elderly victims of such abuse and our attorneys know how to investigate these cases and what remedies are available to the victims. If you or someone you know is suffering from nursing home abuse here in San Francisco or elsewhere in California, call the nursing home abuse attorneys at Evans Law Firm today at 415-441-8669, and we can help.
Visit any loved one in a nursing home as often as you can, and look for signs of abuse or neglect:

- Bruises and scratch marks;
- Falls;
- Indication of sexual assault or battery;
- Overmedication;
- Elopement or wandering off;
- Rapid weight loss;
- Dehydration;
- Abnormal or withdrawn behavior and unusual silence;
- Prolonged sleep or drowsiness;
- Agitation especially when certain caregivers are present;
- Reluctance to speak when staff is nearby;
- Unsanitary and unclean conditions;
- Fear of being touched.
You know your loved one best and may pick up on other indications of abuse or neglect. If you do, act at once.
