Physical elder abuse – A Millbrae caregiver will stand trial on assault and physical elder abuse charges. The caregiver has been accused of beating an elderly Millbrae man on the head and causing serious injuries. It is alleged that the caregiver hit the elderly man on the head with his own walker. The defendant in this case is a 50 year old man who was supposed to be the caretaker for the elderly victim. The defendant was arrested when the 88-year old senior that he was supposed to be taking care of was found bleeding from a head wound while the defendant slept in the next room. In this case, a nephew of the elderly victim called police after he called the elderly victims home and the caretaker sounded drunk. Police did a welfare check and found the senior citizen with the head wound. The elderly victim was taken to the hospital and slipped into a coma. He died about ten weeks later.
