Midland National Life Insurance Co. and North American Company for Life and Health Agree to a Multi-State Settlement Regarding Life Insurance Practices. This was a multi-state examination that included Florida, California, Illinois, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania. The settlement requires Midland National Life Insurance Co.’s and North American Company for Life and Health’s use of the Social Security Administration’s Death Master File to attempt to locate possible beneficiaries that may have unclaimed property. Midland National Life Insurance Co.’s and North American Company for Life and Health are taking “state of the art” steps to make sure that life insurance benefit payments are made as promptly as possible. The states involved worked together to examine the companies’ practices and dozens of other life insurance companies entered into similar agreements including Aviva USA (Aviva Life and Annuity Company formerly known as American Investors Life Insurance).
