Sierra County
Sierra County is located in Northern California on the border of Nevada and deep within the Sierra Nevada, from which it takes its name. With a population of just over 3,000 people, Sierra County is the second-least populated county in California. But a low population does not mean there is nothing to see in Sierra County.
Drawing on its rich history as a center of the Gold Rush, the Kentucky Mine Historic Park and Museum offers visitors a chance to step back in time and discover what life was really like for the area’s pioneers. And, of course, there are plenty of opportunities for nature lovers, including hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, fishing, and kayaking. For those seeking more excitement, Reno, Nevada, is just a short drive over the state line.
