Collaboration between Attorney General Kamala Harris and AARP California to Protect Seniors from Fraud and Abuse
In California, seniors are really representatives of this state, but also are vulnerable. They are the targets of many fraud and abuse schemes. Moreover, when they are old and alone, they are the perfect victim because they wouldn’t or couldn’t ask for help to stop the abuse. For this reason, Attorney General Kamala Harris announced a new collaboration between her office and AARP California to protect seniors from fraud and abuse.
This collaboration aims to make prevention a priority and educate seniors and their family about the different senior abuses and frauds. Also, they could learn the laws that protect seniors and receive legal advice for their problems.
The other focus of this collaboration is to speak out about Medi-Cal and Medicaid abuse regarding elders. This concerns the nursing facilities and the residential health care facilities that could be involved in this kind of fraud or abuse.
